Linda Folden's Biography
Linda Folden’s journey has been a long and winding road. Born in Macau—Asia’s famous “Little Las Vegas”—and raised in Hong Kong, Linda spent most of her life influenced by traditional Chinese culture and her own love of sketching and coloring.
Linda’s desire to get an education in the United States led her to a degree in Interior Design from the University of Minnesota in Mankato, where she also met her husband Dennis. After a number of moves across Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado, the Foldens settled in West Des Moines, Iowa where they raised their two children.
Linda worked in the corporate world for 30 years and decided to retire shortly after her grandchildren were born. Looking for new hobbies and activities, she signed up for a narrative sculpture class at the Des Moines Art Center, which re awakened her love of creating and launched her into a second calling. Today her works have been shown in juried exhibits and in a number of galleries and gift shops all across Iowa including Des Moines, Ames, Iowa City, Perry, Greenfield, Fairfield and Westminster, Colorado.
Linda feels blessed to have her children and grandchildren living closed by, and draw on them for inspiration in her art. This inspiration is evident in the vivid details in her sculpture and helps turn her work into amazing symbols of human life and love.
